It seems to be the tough part of recovery is waiting. We only get to see the outside, but it’s everything on the inside that needs healing.
So we wait. Things are swelling and going back to normal, levels of different meds are changing. You change something and see how he reacts. And wait.
Bottom line:
Everyone is still encouraged with his progress. There are some things to look for, but so far nothing is to be concerned about. Mostly we’re watching his breathing as his body is taking over more and more of that function. Getting off the machine is the next step, and they’re hopeful that will happen tomorrow on schedule.
What we’re thankful for tonight:
It’s Erin’s birthday! And even though we would not like to celebrate it in this way, it was great to see smiles as we spent time with Asher today.
An added bonus tonight, our pastor and his wife (Leon and Renee Tucker of Capital Community Church) came to visit and treated us to dinner. It was really neat to have them here, to pray for us and to rejoice in Erin’s birthday. It was helpful to pull away from the hospital just for a quick dinner. Thanks y’all!!
That’s all for now. We’re praying for another “uneventful” night for Asher!
Hi Erin & Marty,
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Erin! :o) Just wanted you to know that all went well with Brennan and AWANA tonight. Noelle enjoyed having her buddy with her in the car! Thanks for your daily updates. We're praying for you!
We are praying for y'all here in Nashville! I will continue to lift Asher up to our Father. And happy birthday, erin!

So glad to hear the news! (and happy birthday Erin!). we'll be off line for a few days as we travel, and I'll be anxious to check back in when we get computer access again :)
ReplyDeleteBelated Happy Birthday Erin. I thought about you and little Asher alot yesterday but did not get to the computer. It is wonderful that Asher is holding his own. Once again, remember to take care of yourself and Marti. You cannot take care of the boys if you don't take care of yourself. Aunt Karen
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Birthday! And praise God for the good progress today. Praying praying.

Dear Erin and Marty,
ReplyDeleteWe in Savannah have been in constant prayer for you two and for Asher. We are remembering you each morning as we say prayers in homeroom, and I passed around your cute card for all my tenth-graders to see. (Marty, there's NO denying that he looks just like you but with Erín's mouth!)I hope Erin had a good birthday. Things here are gradually getting better for me. My mother, who had declined considerably mentally and physically this year, was hospitalized again in early November, this time with pneumonia from never being upright--she stayed in bed or in her recliner. She was just tired of living, and so she gave up eating, etc., and died Nov. 30. It was a long siege, but now we are at peace and hope she is also. Take care. Thanks for the updates. Love, Sherry Leblang
Dear Erin and Marty: I just got home yesterday, but have been praying for you since Monday morning when we talked. Praying for your sweet family comes so naturally, because of our love for ya'll
ReplyDeleteLord Bless,
George
