We Must Love Airplanes

We initially celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary with a picnic at a local park and a ride on the huge Ferris wheel. We got a great view of the entire city and enjoyed talking about highlights of the last 7 years!

Then later in March we found ourselves aboard yet another airplane, but this time it was personal...a-personal-once-in-a-lifetime-anniversary-weekend that is. Our friends, John and Alisa, very graciously had Brennan over for a few nights and we took off to visit the mega-city of Beijing. We definitely took advantage of the Western food available to us there, namely, Outback (one of the best meals we’ve ever had!), Subway, and Pizza Hut.

In fact, when we climbed the Great Wall, we were very surprised to find
a Subway at the top of the mountain!

Speaking of the Great Wall, we picked a great time to visit – it was a crystal clear morning and Erin got some awesome pictures. It was definitely cold though (the first time we’ve been below freezing since we were in NC last winter), but we enjoyed the majesty of one of the great wonders of the world.

We also found our way to the Olympic Green, where we saw the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube, and then it was off to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. To round out our time in Beijing, we caught an acrobats show, saw the Temple of Heaven, and bartered for some great gifts at the market.

So, our seventh anniversary was celebrated in one of the largest cities in the world. It will surely be one to remember!
