Big Brother Brennan came home with a cold. We did our best to protect little Asher from his germs, but Brennan loves his brother so much he just couldn’t stay away. Asher got congested and after a few days it got worse. We had a few hard nights with 2 sick boys. Asher wanted to eat little snacks all the time because of his congestion and Brennan’s terrible cough was keeping him up as well. So on Monday we took both of them to the Pediatrician to get checked out.
Brennan’s cold caused him to have a DOUBLE EAR INFECTION and Asher’s congestion turned out to be RSV. It hit me like a ton of bricks. 2 sick kids. Thankfully Brennan just needed some antibiotics. We got sent home with the explanation that Asher could not get meds for RSV. We just had to let the virus run it’s course and wait to see how his body handled it.
We had 2 good days and then on Wednesday poor Asher was pathetic. He moaned and whimpered and you could hear him breathing and wheezing. So another trip to the Pediatrician. This time his oxygen levels had gone down to 88% and I heard the dreadful words, “We’re sending you to the hospital. An ambulance is on the way.”
WHOA! What news. So Asher was snapped into his car seat and whisked off into the ambulance.
And here we are: RSV Hospitalization Day 3. Asher was put on oxygen the first 2 days. Now he’s back to breathing room air and just hanging out. The doctors are basically just monitoring him to make sure his breathing is improving.
We hope to make it home tomorrow.
Asher is such and easy-going patient!
praying for you guys!

ReplyDeleteHi Erin,
ReplyDeleteWow! What a week you've had! Sweet Asher really does look like a great patient. :o) So sorry he's been so sick. We're praying for all of you! Hope Brennan and Asher will be feeling better soon. Please let us know if you need anything!
Gah, seeing your baby in his carseat strapped to a guerney cannot be anything a parent would ever dream of seeing.
ReplyDeleteI keep saying it. You have such a trooper!
I know this is so hard for both, even with the peace that passes understanding. While my heart breaks for the 4 of you, it also leaps with joy when i think about how 10, 20, & 30 years from now we will see Asher's ".... but God" moments.
ReplyDeleteMan! We are praying for you guys! Sad to hear you had two sick boys and ended up at the hospital again....you're in our prayers!
